We recently donated some older (but not too old to be used) point and shoot cameras to a group called Zanmi Lakay. They take the cameras to Haiti and hold workshops to teach photography skills to kids. They also accept monetary donations to help Haitian kids pay for school fees, books and supplies, rent and living expenses, trade school expenses, clothing, food and medical appointments. And they sell beautiful Haitian art which supports the artisans.
Donating older working cameras is a great way to get them in the hands of future photographers that may not otherwise have access to gear. I’d encourage folks to donate as much equipment as they can.
