And transit poetry:

"30 Cents, Two transfers, Love, Richard Brautigan" (photograph)

Thinking hard about you
I got onto the bus
and paid 30 cents fare
and asked the driver for two transfers
before discovering that I was alone

Muni Car 1 Ceremony with Senator Dianne Feinstein and Mayor Ed Lee

Muni welcomed its historic Car 1 back to the fleet today with a ceremony featuring Senator Dianne Feinstein and Mayor Ed Lee. DiFi was mayor when the F-Line Historic Streetcar service began in 1983. What a great transit legacy!

Here are a few photos from the ceremony and of Car 1.

Saxophone musicians on Market Street

The other day at the Art Market two saxophone musicians were playing on Market Street near the California Street Cable Car turnaround, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. The first I hadn’t heard before and was very good. The second has been playing there for years and has a very distinct sound that I’ve enjoyed for as long as I can remember.
